Delete your account
How to permanently remove your Pain Academy account and everything associated with it.
You can delete your Pain Academy account at any time. Deletion is permanent, irreversible, and removes your account together with the personal data described below.
Option 1 — delete from inside the app (recommended)
The fastest way to delete your account is directly from the app on your phone. You’ll need to be signed in.
- Open the Pain Academy app on your device.
- Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation.
- Scroll to the Account section and tap Delete account.
- Read the three confirmation screens, then type DELETE and confirm.
Your account is deleted immediately. You’ll be signed out and the app will return to the welcome screen.
Option 2 — request deletion by email
If you can’t sign in to the app, or you’d prefer we handle the deletion for you, email support@painacademy.net from the address on your account. Please use the subject line “Delete my account” so it gets routed to the right queue.
Include:
- The email address you use to sign in to Pain Academy.
- (Optional) The reason you’re leaving — we read every reply and use it to make the program better.
We typically confirm and complete deletion within 1–2 business days. You’ll receive an email confirmation once your account has been removed.
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed from our systems:
- Your profile (name, email, avatar, preferences)
- Your workout completions, streaks, and history
- Your course enrollments and progress
- Achievements and badges
- Assessments and check-in responses
- Custom routines you built
- Onboarding answers and body-map data
- Conversations with Soma (the in-app AI tutor)
- Notification preferences and device tokens
What we retain (and why)
A small amount of information is kept after account deletion because we’re legally required to retain it or need it to protect against fraud:
- Billing and transaction records for as long as required by applicable tax and financial-reporting law (typically up to 7 years in the U.S.). These records live with our payment processors (Stripe, Apple, Google) and cannot be deleted at our request.
- Anonymized analytics events that no longer identify you personally. Any events tied to your account are disassociated from your identity within 30 days of deletion.
- Support correspondence for up to 2 years, so we can honor prior refund decisions and comply with subpoenas or disputes if they arise.
Canceling a subscription is separate
Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active subscription with Apple or Google. Subscriptions are managed by the app store you purchased through:
- iOS / App Store: Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → Pain Academy → Cancel Subscription.
- Android / Google Play: Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Pain Academy → Cancel subscription.
