Help people learn their way out of pain.
We are a small team rebuilding what a pain program can be, with movement, meditation, education, and an AI tutor named Soma. We hire slowly, post selectively, and meet anyone whose work pulls us in.
Mission-aligned · Remote-friendly · Westlake Village, CA
Three things we hold,
before any role description.
The people we serve fell through the cracks.
Most of our members tried PT, surgery, injections, pills, and were told to live with it. Pain Academy is the school built for them. The work is to keep that promise on every screen.
The standard is high because the cost of being wrong is high.
A bad workout app wastes time. A bad pain program convinces people their body cannot heal. That asymmetry sets the bar for every lesson, every line of copy, every ship.
The work itself is the perk.
You will hear from members whose lives changed because of what we built. There is no substitute for that. We hire people who are pulled toward that signal more than any title or ladder.
A small, deliberate team. Quiet, not slow.
Small team. Every hire matters.
You will own real surface area from week one. There are no orphan tickets or filler sprints, if it ships, someone here cared about it deeply.
Owners, not roles.
Job descriptions are starting points. The best people here grow their territory by noticing what is broken and fixing it, regardless of whose remit it sits in on paper.
Written-first, calmly async.
Important thinking is written down. Most decisions ship without a meeting. We protect deep work, yours and everyone else’s, like it is the actual product.
Practice the practice.
Everyone here uses Pain Academy daily. You do not need to be in pain to work here, but you do need to actually move, meditate, and learn alongside the members. The product makes you the product.
We are not posting roles right now. We are always meeting people.
Most of our hires never see a posting. They reach out because the work resonates, send something they made, and we find a way to work together, sometimes immediately, sometimes a year later when the right surface area appears.
If that’s you, please introduce yourself below. Real applications get a real reply, usually within a week. There is no resume bin here, every submission is read by a person on the team.

Tell us who you are and what you’d want to do.
Skip the cover letter. We don’t need a resume. Send us something representative, and a few sentences in your own words.
A short list of non-negotiable shapes.
You read research papers for fun and still write like a human.
You think in systems but ship in days.
You want fewer, better teammates over a bigger org chart.
You take the work seriously, and yourself, lightly.
You are pulled toward problems most of the industry has given up on.
The basics, done well. Plus the work itself.
