The bigger picture

Your pain may not be just a “curve problem.”

Most scoliosis advice focuses on the shape of the spine:

Your curve.Your degrees.Your rotation.Your brace.Your posture.Your symmetry.

And of course, your spine matters. But a curve is not a sentence, and the size of a curve often does not predict how much pain someone feels. When pain lasts for months or years, or flares unpredictably, there may be more going on than the shape of your spine alone.

Your nervous system may be playing a bigger role than you’ve been told.

That does not mean your pain is fake, and it does not mean you should ignore your diagnosis. It means your body may be stuck in a cycle of pain, fear, guarding, and sensitivity — and that cycle can begin to change.

That’s what this free workshop is about.

What we’ll do

In this free workshop, you’ll learn.

01

What scoliosis is — and what a curve does and doesn’t mean for your daily life.

02

Why pain and a curve are not the same thing, and why many people with scoliosis live active, comfortable lives.

03

How movement, breathing, and strength can support your spine rather than “worsen” it.

04

A gentle, curve-aware movement practice to help you reconnect with your spine.

05

How fear of movement can keep the body tight, guarded, and sensitized.

06

How to begin building strength and confidence without chasing a “straight” spine.

Who it’s for

If any of these sound like you.

You’ve been diagnosed with scoliosis, mild or significant.

You feel afraid that exercise or certain movements will make your curve worse.

You have back pain, tightness, or fatigue you connect to your spine.

You’ve been told to “just be careful” but never shown how to move.

You want to feel stronger and more at home in your body.

Before you commit

This is not a high-pressure challenge.

No pushing through pain.

No promising to “straighten” your spine.

No pressure to feel a dramatic result by the end.

This is a calm, educational workshop to help you understand scoliosis differently, reduce fear around movement, and begin rebuilding trust in your body without forcing it to prove it is okay.

Inside the workshop

What to expect.

You’ll be guided through a clear teaching session, a calmer way to understand scoliosis and pain, and a gentle movement practice you can use to begin reconnecting with your spine.

The goal is not to fix or straighten your curve.

The goal is to help you move with more strength, less fear, and more trust in the body you have.

The workshop will be about 90 minutes and will include:

45 min

Education to help you understand scoliosis and pain through the body, movement, and nervous system.

10 min

Simple movement check-ins and assessments.

25 min

Gentle, curve-aware movement practice.

10 min

Post-movement reflection, live Q&A, and next steps.

Set yourself up

What you’ll need.

For the movement portion, we’ll be getting down on the ground to do the exercises.

Please plan to have:

  • A comfortable place to lay down.
  • A little room around you to move.
  • A yoga block, if you have one.
  • A simple couch pillow or bed pillow if you don’t have a yoga block.
  • A chair nearby, just in case you want extra support.

You don’t need anything fancy. Just make sure you have enough space to get on the ground comfortably and move at your own pace.

Vinny Crispino is the founder of Pain Academy, a former Division I athlete, and an eight-time All-American whose work with chronic pain began after a life-changing surfing accident left him with a broken back.

After years of treatments that did not give him the answers he needed, Vinny began searching for a different way to understand pain, movement, and the body. That path led him to become a Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Posture Alignment Specialist, and certified in Pain Reprocessing Therapy.

Today, Vinny has helped more than 15,000 people learn how to work with their bodies in a calmer, nervous-system-informed way — without forcing, pushing, or ignoring pain.

This workshop is designed to give you a clearer way to understand scoliosis and a safer place to begin.
